Lincoln United 0-2 Eynesbury Rovers:

Manager Scott Hellewell spoke about the positive bigger picture, after Lincoln United missed an opportunity to add to the trophy haul in the UCL Knockout Cup final.

Two first-half goals saw Eynesbury Rovers to victory in the cross-division cup final, as The Whites finished the season with a trophy cabinet of the UCL Premier Division North title and the Lincolnshire County Trophy.

Speaking in the minutes following the game to The Linc sports editor Jamie Johnson, Hellewell said:  “We need to look at the bigger picture. Today is disappointing, but we have won the league and we are playing step four football next season. I am sure everyone in our league, and in their league, would swap places with us.”

The Lincoln United boss also looked ahead to the summer, already fixing one eye on the preparations for the club’s return to step four, while reflecting on a season where the main goal of promotion was achieved.
