Lincoln City progress to the second round of the Carabao Cup after they beat League Two side Harrogate Town 3-1 at the Exercise Stadium.
Goals from Jack Moylan, Freddie Draper and Rob Street were enough to right the wrongs of last season, despite Ellis Taylor pulling one back late for the hosts.
The Imps came into this one following a mixed start to their league season after they started with victory over Reading before being beaten away to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.
Following that, head-coach Michael Skubala made six changes for this game as Zach Jeacock made his first start of the season in goal.
Slow Start:
It was a slow start to the game as Freddie Draper struck over from 18-yards out before Ryley Towler flicked a header into the side netting from a corner inside the first 15 minutes.
Harrogate did then come close themselves as Stephen Duke-Mckenna was brought down by Tom Bayliss on the left. He then stepped up to take the free kick and struck over from a tight angle.
The first clear cut chance of the game was then taken by the Imps just before the 30 minute mark as a corner was kept alive by Hamer at the far post.
He headed it across goal to Rob Street who knocked the ball into the path of Jack Moylan who volleyed home to break the deadlock from eight yards-out.
The Imps then came close twice in the next five minutes as Draper had a header from close range saved by Mark Oxley in the Town goal.
Erik Ring then also nearly doubled the lead as he broke in down the right but could only drag his effort wide of the far post.
A slow first half did come to an end after two added minutes where the Imps were the better of the two sides, having taken the biggest chance of the game when it fell their way.

Clinical finishing wins the tie:
City did double their lead on the hour mark as Draper capitalised on a defensive mistake in the Harrogate back line and poked the ball beyond an onrushing Oxley.
Sonny Bradley then almost put the game to bed five minutes later as he headed against the crossbar before the ball was knocked behind for another corner.
The game was eventually put to bed as Moylan and Collins linked up well down the left before the latter crossed for Street to finish first time at the far post.
The game looked to be petering out to a comfortable 3-0 win for the Imps before Ellis Taylor picked up a loose pass in midfield before he bent a shot in the bottom right-hand corner to pull one back for the hosts.
Despite that frustrating late consolation, the Imps will be happy with what was a fairly comfortable 3-1 victory that sees them in the hat for the second round.
The draw for the second round will take place before the tie between Birmingham City and Sheffield United live on Sky Sports tomorrow night.
