Lincoln City have announced the signing of versatile former Sheffield Wednesday star Adam Reach on a free transfer.

Predominantly a left-back the Englishman provides much needed depth in the full-back position despite the signing of Ryley Towler from Portsmouth in July.

The 32-year-old became a free agent after his contract with Wycombe Wanderers expired at the end of last season having made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Chairboy’s.

The Englishman has also spent time with Championship sides West Bromwich Albion, Preston North End and Middlesborough.

However, he spent most of his career with Sheffield Wednesday where he made 230 appearances over five seasons and now becomes the Imps’ seventh signing of the summer.

He has signed on a one-year deal and follows Finn Barbrook through the door today after he signed on a season-long loan from Ipswich Town.

Speaking on the deal Lincoln City head coach Michael Skubala said: “Adam is fantastic player with an illustrious career in the Championship and a real hunger for more success which matches our ambitions.

“The pursuit of a specialist in this position has been a challenge for us all summer, so we are pleased that in biding our time, we have secured such a good option to complement Ryley and the squad overall.”

City’s director of football Jez George also said: ““In looking at all options to sign a left back this summer, we bought Ryley Towler knowing that he possessed outstanding attributes to play the role as a hybrid left centre-back.

““We also value Adam’s versatility in a number of attacking positions as well as his experience, most recently demonstrated by him starting in both League One play-off semi-finals last season.

“We are delighted to have been able to sign a player of Adam’s calibre on transfer deadline day.”
