Lincoln City look to make it three wins on the bounce in Sky Bet League One as they travel to the Weston Homes Stadium to take on Peterborough United.

The Imps are currently on a seven game unbeaten run in the league and hadn’t lost in all competitions since August 9 until Tuesday’s defeat against world champions Chelsea in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Michael Skubala’s side started very strong against the Blues with Rob Street giving Lincoln the lead just before half-time.

A fabulous goal by Tyrique George from the edge of the box and a first Chelsea goal for Facundo Buonanotte made it 2-1 just five minutes into the half, and that’s ultimately how the game ended.

Opponents: Peterborough United

The Posh endured a horror start to the season, not winning any of their opening seven matches and earning just one point up until September 13.

However, they’ve turned their fortunes in the last two games, beating Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 then former Championship side Plymouth Argyle.

Six points in two games have changed things results wise for the Cambridgeshire side, but they still sit 23rd in the league, a single point away from safety.

Manager Darren Ferguson saw 16 players join his side this summer, including Jimmy-Jay Morgan a Chelsea loanee who has scored in each of Peterborough’s last three games.

Team News:

Lincoln City were in action mid-week against Chelsea. When asked if all his players would be fit and fresh for tomorrow’s game, Head-Coach Michael Skubala said: “Everyone’s recovering well and ready to go.”

He also confirmed that Adam Jackson was okay and back in training today after taking him out of the Carabao Cup game on Tuesday night.

Head-to-Head:

The two teams have clashed ten times in each of the last five seasons in the third tier of English football, with the Imps winning just twice in that time.

The last time the sides met was in January, when Lincoln were 5-1 victors against the Posh with Dom Jeffries, Tom Bayliss, Freddie Draper and James Collins all getting on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Overall, Lincoln and Peterborough have met on 56 occasions, with the Imps winning 15, the Posh winning 23 and the sides drawing 18 matches.

Played for Both:

Former Lincoln City Player of the Year Michael Bostwick joined from Peterborough at the start of the 2017/18 season whilst the Imps were in League Two.

He helped his new side win the EFL Trophy that season and, in the following campaign, City won promotion to League One, with Bostwick voted as the club’s Player of the Year.

A player to make their way down the A1 from Lincoln is Jorge Grant. The midfielder signed permanently from Nottingham Forest in July 2019, scoring 15 times in 68 games and being named in the League One team of the season for the 2020/21 season.
