Tendayi Darikwa was disappointed following Lincoln City’s 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic, feeling he and his teammates performed below their usual standards.

Lincoln fell behind early, with Paul Mullin finding the back of the net on the counter attack. James Collins scored two goals in four minutes against the run of play to turn the game on its head before half time.

An early second half header at the back post by Callum Wright made the score 2-2, and neither side could find a winner after the dismissals of Christian Saydee and Rob Street.

About the overall performance, City’s skipper said: “We started off quite slow, by our standards. We spoke before (the game) about playing with intensity and I thought we were a little bit off it today.

“Two (points) dropped. It’s a point, we move on. When you’re 2-1 up at home, it feels like a kick in the teeth to concede the second.”

Darikwa added: “I think the goals we conceded were bad, so we’ll have a look at that. We’re just disappointed, really.”

Adam Jackson was the only change the side that started the 1-1 draw with Mansfield, coming in for the suspended Sonny Bradley. Darikwa hailed Bradley’s performances this season, but also acknowledged that one player does not make a team.

Darikwa told The Linc: “Sonny’s an experienced player and he’s been great for us since he’s come in. But, for ‘Jacko’ and Tom Hamer, one player missing is a chance for another to step up. It’s a team game.”

The first of the Imps’ two goals was James Collins’ 200th goal in the EFL, and 208th career goal. On his teammates’ achievement, the 14-cap Zimbabwe international said: “It’s brilliant. It’s what he does, he’s done it for his whole career.

“It’s a great milestone, congratulations to him. Hopefully he’s got many more in a Lincoln shirt.”
