Dexter Lembikisa made his first Lincoln City appearance against Manchester United’s U-21’s side which saw the young Red Devils lose out 3-0 to the Imps.

Second half goals from Tom Hamer, Erik Ring and Reeco Hackett, have virtually confirmed Lincoln’s spot in the next stage of the EFL Vertu Trophy.

Lembikisa joined Skubala’s side late on transfer deadline day on a short-term loan deal from Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Lembikisa went away on international duty with Steve McClaren’s Jamaica quickly after he joined the Imps and hadn’t featured for the Imps before Tuesday night.

After a full ninety minutes on, he said: “I think that today we have done very well.

“In these games we want to dominate, and we were able to defend well, and I was able to contribute in the attacking half”.

Lembikisa then outlined exactly what Imps supporters can expect from him when he said: “As a defender, I can defend 1v1’s a lot.

“I am athletic, I love going forward, creating and setting people up.”

Seemingly Lincoln City have been looking at bringing in the Jamaican international for a sustained period.

Lembikisa said: “They have been interested in me for a minute, so when I had the opportunity to come out and go, I knew that I needed to go and get some games”.

Skubala’s men welcome Exeter City on Saturday and the Jamaican will be jostling for his position on the pitch with the talisman Tendayi Darikwa being most likely first choice going into that match.

Lembikisa shared his thoughts when he said: “All I know is that I have to keep working hard and take all the opportunities that I can get. If I get the call, then I am ready.”
