Lincoln United were beaten by Bridlington Town on Tuesday night, making it back-to-back losses in the Northern Premier League East Division for the newly promoted side.
The result meant the Whites fell down to 16th in the league and to within just two points of the relegation zone, a far cry from where they were before the loss against Brighouse Town at the weekend.
Just last week, United had won two games on the bounce and sat 12th in the league, but the 4-1 loss to Brighouse and now yesterday’s defeat has put them right back in the relegation dog-fight.
The home side were second best for all of the first 45 against Bridlington, going behind just 15 minutes in courtesy of Ahmed Salam, who found the bottom corner excellently with his low driven strike.

LincSport reporter Declan Dempsey spoke to Lincoln United manager Scott Hellewell after the game, he said: “First half we were terrible.
“We didn’t get going at all, I thought we got bullied a little bit… I felt nervous on the touchline thinking this could be two or three at half-time.”
The Whites came out a much better team for the second half, creating an abundance of chances but weren’t able to capitalise on a single one to level the game. Hellewell said: “It was chalk and cheese really.
“If we would’ve put a 90 minute performance like we did the second half we would’ve won the game… disappointing we didn’t get anything but that’s football.”
