Lincoln Students' Union (SU)

The Student Union has warned students at the University of Lincoln of a recent scam surfing social media.

Advertised as a ‘’Christmas Fayre’’ at the Engine Shed on the 29th and 30th November, the event was reported by the union to not be genuine.

With no connection to the Union, they have advised students to stay vigilant and keep themselves informed.

In a recent study conducted by the NatWest’s Student Living Index they reported that over half of students have reported facing or becoming victims to scams in the past year.

In a statement from the University of Lincoln Student’s Union, they said: ‘’We advise people not to share any personal or payment details with unofficial sources. If in doubt, please get in touch with us directly through our official, verified accounts for The Engine Shed or the University of Lincoln Student’s Union’’.

In a social media post, the Student Union warned to not give any information to the phone number 07877 164100. All events organised by the Union will be available on verified channels and at the engineshed.co.uk.

If you have been affected by this scam, ensure that you contact your bank as soon as possible and contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 to report any fraud and cyber-crime.
