This Saturday, Lincoln City take the 256-mile round trip to face off against a struggling Blackpool side as they look for their first league away win in four attempts.

That last SkyBet League One away win came in a 3-0 victory over Peterborough United at the end of September.

However, the side now go into this one with back-to-back league victories for the first time since October after they beat Barnsley 3-1 on Tuesday night.

A first half opener from Reeco Hackett was cancelled out by Davis Keillor-Dunn with just over 20 minutes remaining.

Despite that, the Imps quickly bounced back as Tom Bayliss restored the lead just two passes after the restart before Hackett sealed the victory with his second of the game.

Last season, the Imps did fail to get the better of Blackpool in either of their league encounters, with a 1-1 draw on the road and a disappointing 2-0 loss in front of a home crowd.

However, Michael Skubala’s side will be bolstered by Tom Bayliss who looks set to feature in this one despite going off with an injury in their midweek victory over Barnsley.

City’s manager has warned fans not to be deceived by Blackpool’s league position as he said: “I think they’re in an unrealistic league position for the size of their club and the quality that they have.”

Blackpool’s recent run of form hasn’t gone unnoticed, with this weekend’s hosts scoring ten goals in their last five games, of which they have avoided losses in three.

The Tangerines’ creative number ten Josh Bowler is proving to be one of their most dangerous players this season.

The 26-year-old averaging the most shots on target out of their entire squad this season and Skubala repeatedly mentioned how clinical this week’s opponents have been in front of goal.

He also made people aware that that’s something The Imps will not only have to stop but also create themselves in a tough away setting.

Of the nine games in which these two sides have met in League One, Lincoln have won just three times (Blackpool have won four and the two have drawn twice).

This poses the question as to whether the Imps can turn those numbers around and pick up three potentially vital points in what has seemed to be a stellar start to their season.

For Lincoln, it has been a combination of both their free-flying scoring and rock-solid defending which have helped bolster their league position in the run up to Christmas.

However, Blackpool have hardly been sluggish in front of goal this season, scoring 20 goals in 19 games.

These two potent attacks promise to provide a feisty clash in a game that should bring many chances at both ends of the pitch.

This will clearly be a massive game at both ends of the table, with all three points being a necessity for promotion or survival, but who will be taking three points home as an early Christmas present.
