Michael Skubala was pleased with how quickly his side started in last night’s Sky Bet League One victory over Barnsley as his side climbed to the top of the table on home form.
A first half strike from Reeco Hackett as he cut inside from the right was cancelled out by Davis Keillor-Dunn when a low cross from the right couldn’t be cut out by the Imps backline.
However, City bounced back straight away as a long ball by George Wickens following the restart was pounced on by Tom Bayliss who lifted the ball into the Barnsley net.
The home side weren’t finished there as Hackett found his second of the game when he was found by a Tom Hamer long throw.

That ability to react quickly is something we’ve seen from Skubala’s side on multiple occasions and on that he said: “They’ve just got that in them.
“They know they’re experienced, they don’t panic and I thought it was a great second goal and a brilliant third goal.”
The side also climbed to the top of the table on home form after last night’s victory marked their seventh win of the season.
Their only loss at the LNER Stadium came at the hands of Exeter City before a run of six consecutive away games.
When speaking on Sincil Bank, Skubala said: “The fans and the players make this place so special.
“They’ve got a brilliant connection, we make it tough and the fans help us with that situation because we’re an aggressive team at home.
“Now we just need to try and transfer that to the away form and try to pick more points up on the road.”

However, Skubala was quick not to take the credit for the fast start in this one when he said: “I didn’t change anything.
“The players were braver, they braver to get after things, more aggressive in the jump and they weren’t as passive.
“I didn’t change anything and the players did it all.”
