Lincoln City have made their second signing of the January transfer window as striker Alfie Lloyd joins on loan from Queens Park Rangers for the remainder of the season.
The 22-year-old has 67 senior appearances throughout his career and joins the Imps having spent the first half of the season on loan at Leyton Orient where he made 12 appearances.
In that time the striker failed to score in any competition with his last goal coming on February 1 last year while playing for QPR.
The striker now joins the Imps after the R’s acquired the loan signing of former City striker Justin Obikwu who was recalled himself on Thursday afternoon.
Lloyd has also previously spent time with time Eastleigh on loan alongside Yeovil Town where he started his career made his first senior appearance in November 2020.
He then joined Queens Park Rangers on a permanent basis in the summer of 2021 and his since gone on to make 31 appearances for the side.
All of those appearances came in the 2024/25 season and on joining the Imps Lloyd said: “I’m excited by the opportunity and hope I can add to the brilliant team that is already here.
“The fans can expect an explosive player who will run his heart out for the team.”
“I’ve heard great things about the fans, I look forward to seeing them in the two big home games coming up and can’t wait to play in front of them.”
Head coach Michael Skubala said: “Alfie fits the Lincoln City profile for a centre forward or wide player in that he is aggressive, powerful, runs in behind, works hard and presses well.
“His data for these metrics with QPR in the Championship last season is incredible, ahead of some top Championship players, and we know that he can come in and share the load with our front of the pitch players while giving us the same outputs.”
Sporting director Jez George added: “Great credit to Joe (Hutchinson, head of recruitment) for identifying Alfie and reaching an agreement with QPR to make this happen so quickly after Justin’s unexpected recall.
“There was literally no time to spare due to the deadline for QPR to recall Alfie. Our need is also immediate and, after playing 75 minutes against Cardiff City nine days ago, Alfie is up to speed and ready to contribute.”
