Lincoln City have announced the signing of Sheffield United attacker Ryan Oné on a six-month loan deal as they target promotion.

The news comes in towards the end of the January transfer window after previous City loanees Frankie Okoronwko and Justin Obikwu were recalled by their clubs and loaned out elsewhere

Michael Skubala’s side currently sit second in SkyBet League One and are on the hunt to play in the second tier of English football for the first time since the 1960/61 season.

City have already made three signings this window, securing defenders Josh Honohan and Deji Elerewe on permanent deals whilst also completing a loan move for Queens Park Rangers forward Alfie Lloyd.

And 19-year-old Ryan Oné now marks their fourth acquisition of the month, signing on a loan deal from the Blades until the end of the season.

The Scotsman started his career at Hamilton Academical, where he made 36 appearances before being snapped up by then Premier League side Sheffield United.

He made his debut for the South Yorkshire outfit in a 5-0 loss against Arsenal in England’s top flight, before going on to feature 22 times in all competitions – scoring once in that time.

On signing for the Imps, Oné said: “I’m really happy to be here and excited to get started.

“From speaking to the head coach, Jez George and Joe Hutchinson, they described the style of play and the way the team creates chances, I feel like it suits me and the way I play.

“When you see a club that’s willing to play young players and develop while still trying to win and pick up points, it made me want to come here.”

City’s latest signing will be sure to play a crucial part in what remains of their season, offering to be a solid backup option for Michael Skubala’s in-form attackers.

Jez George, Lincoln’s Sporting director, said: “Ryan has been highly sought after by League One clubs in this window, so we are delighted to have got this agreed and over the line.

“We know that Ryan is highly rated by Sheffield United, so we are grateful that they have trusted us with the next stage of his development.

“Ryan fits our profile in terms of his pace, power and physicality adding attacking threat and work ethic out of possession, so adds competition and depth to our forward options.  He is coming on loan to make a real impact, and we believe he has all the attributes we value to do that.”
