Michael Skubala was delighted with Lincoln City’s 3-0 win over Bradford City last night, in what felt like a big step towards promotion to the Championship.
The Imps dominated the Bantams, limiting them to just one shot on target in the game. While goals from Freddie Draper, Jack Moylan and Ben House secured victory for the hosts, in a contest which their head coach described as the best he had ever seen his Lincoln City side play.
The two sides went into the game in second and third place in the table, but defeat drops Graham Alexander’s side to fifth, behind Bolton Wanderers and Stockport County. The Imps remain second, six points ahead of the greater Manchester sides with a game in hand.
“You want to turn up for these big games,” said Skubala.
“The result is important obviously but the performance in the first half was electric.
“There aren’t many opportunities where, as a coach, you can just sit and watch your team playing.”

Lincoln City’s spellbinding first half display was followed by a professional showing in the second period, to limit what chances their opposition could create and secure victory.
Skubala said: “We dominated. We got the goals in the first half, so we just had to make sure we gave nothing cheap away.
“Most of the second half felt like it was played in their half, how we like to play the game, and then last 20 minutes we came on top of them again.”
Although tempted to talk about promotion, Skubala is keeping his feet firmly on the ground and taking every game as it comes, while also acknowledging his sides quality.
He said: “Every game is worth the same three points, we can beat anybody on our day and we’re just taking care of our performances, whatever will be at the end of the season, with numbers, will be.
“But we’re just enjoying the journey and enjoying competing – we believe we can do it, but there’s a long way to go.”
Skubala also revealed that he had a meeting with new chairman, Ron Fowler, the day before the game.
“I met him yesterday and went for dinner, it was great to see him. Hopefully he can see what we’re building here and he’s definitely part of that now.”
