Lincoln City are set for their furthest away day as they make the 300-mile trip down south to play Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.

Skubala’s Imps come into this game on a tremendous run of form going 11 games unbeaten, and currently sitting second in the SkyBet League One table.

If results go their way, Lincoln City could end the day top of the tree in England’s third tier for the first time since February 2021.

A reminder also that the game will kick off at 3:01pm because of the Every Minute Matter’s campaign.

Opponents: Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth come into this game off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Stockport County last Saturday which sees them sat in 15th place, six points from the relegation zone.

The Pilgrims manager – ex-Watford midfielder Tom Cleverley – will be looking for his side to regain their step following a seven-game undefeated run prior to their game against County.

Plymouth faced some uncertainty regarding their Vertu Trophy run with Swindon Town – their drawn opponents – being kicked from the competition following the fielding of two illegible players.

They will now face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

Team News

Lincoln City manager Michael Skubala will be happy to have his January signings available for this game, after Ryan Oné featured as an unused substitute in City’s 1-0 win against Wigan Athletic.

He will also have players like Ben House, Tom Bayliss and Oscar Thorn at his disposal for the game this weekend and over the coming weeks.

On his team, Skubala said: “The challenge is getting them enough minutes in the games to keep progressing them.

“We’re looking really healthy, really competitive, and long may that continue. We just take every game as it comes now to get three points.”

Head-to-head

In terms of previous clashes, the two teams have been quite evenly matched.

The teams have already played at the LNER Stadium this season with Lincoln coming out 3-2 winners thanks to goals from Tom Bayliss and a brace from James Collins.

Over the teams last five meetings, Lincoln have come out on top with three wins, but they have also drawn twice.

Overall, City just edge it with 20 wins – compared to Argyle’s 16 against the Imps.

Played for both

Defender Sonny Bradley – current Imps player – had a two-year stint at the club on the south coast between 2016 – 2018.

During his time, the 32-year-old made 96 appearances for the Greens, scoring 11 times in all competitions.

Current Plymouth defender Alex Mitchell also had a stint at Sincil Bank in the 2023/24 season on loan from then parent club Millwall, making 41 appearances, scoring once.
