Lincoln City secured all three points with a professional 3-0 victory over a struggling Rotherham United side to go seven points clear at the top.

A Ted Cann own goal, Reeco Hackett strike and a deflected Ben House goal was enough to defeat the Millers and extend the Imps unbeaten run to 22 games.

Head coach Michael Skubala said: “Excellent day. This stage of the season is about results. We got the job done in the first half and then the second half was about being professional.

“Sometimes people think we’re a defensive side but we’re not, we’re a front footed team. You don’t score as many goals as we have otherwise.”

He went on to praise Hackett’s performance, as the winger reached the ten goal milestone for the season.

“I thought he was really good. He got on the ball well and it’s good for him to hit some form again.

“We run hard, the energy in this team comes from a solid tactical structure. It’s not easy but today was a good day at the office.”

Results elsewhere, meant the Imps moved seven points clear off second place Cardiff City. Skubala insisted nothing was secured: “Football’s never done until it’s done.

“Our points return over our last five games has been very good, but it’s not done.

“We’ve got to keep focussed and working hard to keep picking up points.”

The 43-year-old further praised his side resilience and consistency.

“The robustness of our team is excellent. Lots of little things add to where we are at the minute. I trust all the lads, because I know what we can do.

“The players have been so resilient. We controlled and managed the game really well.”

The game was also the clubs Junior Day. The head coach reiterated his gratefulness to all the clubs fans: “The fans should enjoy these moments. The fans need to dream. It’s great to see the fans in full voice.

“The youth takeover and connection with the club and community is great.”

Lincoln City have the opportunity to earn promotion on Good Friday, as the Imps host AFC Wimbledon.
