Lincoln United made it seven games unbeaten at their home ground of the Sun-Hat Villas & Resorts Stadium as they secured a 2-1 comeback win over Newton Aycliffe on Saturday.
The three points moved them up to 15th in the Northern Premier League East Division, sitting on 40 points and seven clear of the relegation zone.
Despite going behind on Saturday, a penalty converted by Alan Power and a Conor Brown strike were enough for the Whites to turn the game around and win 2-1.
Interim assistant manager Darren Dye said: “Great credit to the players (for turning around the game) but it was a warning that we can’t start games like this.
“It’s been happening over the last two or three weeks, so we need to start games better, because when we do and we play like we did during the second half, to come back and get the result was great credit to them.
“We probably should’ve won 3/4-1 by the end of the game.”

The Whites were a goal behind at the break as the hosts took the lead in the 36th minute against the run of play via a Jack Camarda free-kick that beat Heath Richardson with the help of a deflection.
In reaction to this, three changes were made for the start of the second half, with Jack Varley, Andy Janssen and Max Baker all coming on to replace Charlie Carlisle, Kane Hutchinson-Wilkes and Haydn Havard.
When asked what the thinking behind the triple change, Dye said: “We just wanted to get a bit more energy into the team.
“Varley, whose just signed for us, gave us an edge in midfield – we changed the shape from a 4-4-2, we just thought bringing Owen out against their full back might give us a bit more joy.
“It worked, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t but great credit to the players coming on.”
When interim coaches Dave Frecklington, James Morgan and Dye took over from Billy Heath, United were in 19th place, sitting on 21 points from 22 games played.
Since then, the temporary management team has done remarkably well, steering the club up to 40 points and seven clear of relegation.
When asked if he would take the job on a permanent basis, Dye said: “With Dave and Morgan we definitely would.
“I make no secrets, it’s always been a goal of mine so we’ll see. We’ll see what happens come the end of the season.
“We’re here to do a job, to keep the football club in the league and in this moment in time we’re achieving those goals.”
