Dom Jefferies came on as a substitute in the second half for Lincoln City in their emphatic 2-0 win against Cardiff City.
The winger scored the second goal of the game as the Imps leapfrogged the Bluebirds to sit top of the SkyBet League One for the first time this season.
It was clear that Lincoln went into the game with a clear plan to hurt the then league leaders on the counterattack, and it worked to perfection with both goals coming from fast breaks.
Jefferies said: “We did a lot of work on them over the week and we know what their strengths are and sometimes their weaknesses.”
The importance of the teamwork on display was not lost on the Imps midfielder, as he added: “It was about being a strong unit as eleven, not just the back five, and everyone contributed defensively.”

The noise from the away end was almost deafening for the entire 90 minutes, with the 3,000 strong supporters having made the long journey to Cardiff for the early kick-off.
Jefferies told us: If you ask any of our players, they love playing in front of this crowd and it was great support from them.”
Once again, the strength and depth of the Lincoln squad was talked about, as Jefferies himself proved to be a vital substitution later in the game.
He said: “All the lads have contributed over the whole season really, we’ve just got to keep together, keep as a group, keep as a unit and just carry on.”
The Imps will now be looking ahead to their game against Exeter City tomorrow night, with Skubala’s side looking to pick up yet another vital three points in this unbelievably tight title race.
