Following their 2-2 draw against Sheffield 1st last Sunday, Lindum’s chances at promotion back to the Division One North League are possible, but slim.
After their relegation last season to the Conference League North, the Yellow Submarines have had a mixed campaign and currently sit on 27 points. This leaves them sitting third in the league table, only six points behind top of the league, Leeds.
The Lincolnshire team have had a whirlwind last few seasons, earning back-to-back promotions in the 2022/23 and the 2023/24 season which saw them become the first Lincolnshire based team to reach the second tier of English hockey.
With only four games left in the season, Lindum vice-captain Ross Booth thinks it will be difficult for the team to gain promotion.
“I think it will be difficult because the teams at the top have only lost one or two games all season, so however well we do, they’d have to drop a lot of points.
“I’d say it’s probably just more about us working on playing well as a team, staying behind them and then if they slip up we’re there.”
Mathematically, Lindum are still in for a chance at promotion. Only two wins off the top, it would mean both Leeds and Neston dropping points in their final games and Lindum winning the remainder of theirs.
Can they do it?
