Lincoln United got the better of second placed Emley AFC on National Non-League day thanks to a strike from Haydn Havard in the final minute of injury time.
The Whites dominated possession throughout and looked the more likely side to break the deadlock as they closed the gap to Bridlington Town.
Dave Frecklington made two changes from the side that found a 3-0 victory away against Brighouse Town during the week as Harvey Cribb was replaced by Charlie Carlisle while Kane Hutchinson-Wilkes came in for Jack Varley.
New loan signing Noah Simmons couldn’t find a place in the squad on the day he joined from cross-city rivals Lincoln City.

How the table turned
It was the hosts who came forward inside the first minute as Owen Vincent broke the line brilliantly from the left-hand side, but he was forced wide so couldn’t get a shot away.
United continued to dominate possession throughout the first 20 minutes of the game before Charlie Carlisle threatened with a cross from the right but nobody was there to turn home.
However, the side second in the table did eventually threaten with half an hour gone as Bailey Thomson pounced on a Jack Dando mistake but his half volley was well saved by Heath Richardson.
Connor Brown’s first real involvement of the game resulted in the Whites’ first shot on target as he broke into the penalty down the left but his shot was ultimately well blocked.
That brought to an end an uneventful half, in which only the visitors managed a shot on target although the hosts dominated possession throughout and looked the better side.

Hero Haydn Havard
Andy Janssen came closest for the hosts ten minutes after the break as he slid in to volley a long ball goalwards but his effort from eight yards drifted wide of the near right-hand post.
The Pewitts then threatened from two crosses over the next ten minutes, but the Whites dealt with them well.
That came before top goalscorer Connor Brown missed a guilt-edged chance from two yards out, after Janssen flashed an effort low across goal from the right hand-side.
However, the visitors came close themselves with just under 20 minutes remaining as the ball was cut back to Jack Boyle but his effort was well caught by Richardson.
Both teams then threatened from set pieces as Jack Dando first had a header cleared off the line with just under ten minutes remaining.
However, the visitors then went straight up the other end and had one cleared off the line themselves.
The Whites finally got their rewards for being the better side throughout as Connor Brown raced down the right and cut the ball back.
Waiting there was Haydn Havard who drilled the ball into the bottom right corner from 18-yards out to seal all three points with the last kick of the game.
Next up for the Whites is a trip to another play-off contender in Pontefract Collieries next Saturday as they look to make it four wins in a row.
