Interim manager Dave Frecklington said his Lincoln United side were “outstanding to a man” after they held top of the league Redcar Athletic to a 0-0 draw.
The point meant that the Whites remained 14th place in the Northern Premier League East Division, sitting five points clear of the relegation zone.
Redcar had the majority of the possession and chances throughout the game, but that was almost all for nothing when their captain Danni Lay was shown a straight red card with five minutes of injury time still on the clock.
United pushed late on but couldn’t find a late winner as the two sides were forced to share the points, increasing the home sides unbeaten run at the Sun Hat Villas & Resorts Stadium to five games.
On his sides performance, Dave Frecklington said: “Outstanding to a man.
“They’ve scored 117 goals, scored sevens and eights and fours (in previous games this season) so it was important we had a tactical plan, but it’s important when you have that tactical plan that the players carry it out and they did that.
“They left everything; blood, sweat and tears – I thought we did everything really to not only get a points but we could’ve nicked it at the end.”

Former Nottingham Forest and Lincoln City midfielder Alan Power was awarded Man of the Match for his fantastic performance in the middle of the park.
Frecklington said: “He’s just been incredible.
“All the players look up to him, he’s not a loud one in the changing room but he leads by example.
“He’s probably had four Man of the Matches in his last four appearances so to keep churning out those performances is a massive credit to him personally.
“Everyone in the ground today saw he still has the ability, I thought he was the best player on the pitch by a mile.”
The Whites have the opportunity to build on the positive result next Saturday as they travel to the North East to face play-off chasing side Consett.
