When asked how it felt to leave his mark in such an important match, Ben House said: “I feel ecstatic to be honest with you, it’s nice to get two goals especially when I haven’t scored in a while.

“I’m not thinking about it being a historical game as such it’s just nice to get the win and secure the league title.”

After securing promotion to the second tier of English football and confirming their title of League One champions, the Imps have already made sure this season will be one to remember for decades to come. However, House said: “We’re still looking for more.

“Obviously we’ve got two games to go, we’re 27 unbeaten now and we can get to the 29 mark which would be history again.

“So yeah, we’re not going to take the foot off the gas, we’re going to give everything, train really hard and fingers crossed we can get to that 29 mark.”

Lincoln have confirmed their will be an open-top bus parade to celebrate the league title, on which House said: “For the club, for the city, for everyone, it will be amazing.

“It’s been something that wasn’t expected at the start of the season so when we actually do it and witness everything around us it’s going to be emotional.

“It’ll be a really nice day.”
