Lincoln City travel to the Stevenage FC Stadium this weekend with the chance to clinch the SkyBet League One title with three games to spare.
All the Imps need to do is match Cardiff City’s result as they face up to Reading who now face a tough task to get into the play-offs after losing out to the Imps last Monday as they sealed promotion.
Lincoln overcame a difficult Leyton Orient side in a 2-1 win at the LNER Stadium last week. A beautiful finish from Jack Moylan and a rather unfortunate own goal from Orient skipper William Forrester sealed the three points for the recently promoted Imps.
We can only watch as this Lincoln City side continue to make headlines and history, if the Imps can win their remaining four league matches, they will officially have the second highest points tally in third tier English football history, only eclipsed by Brimingham City last term.

Opponents: Stevenage Town
If anyone can derail Lincoln’s 25 game unbeaten streak in the league, it could be opponents Stevenage FC.
Although, the Boro have struggled away from home recently, only winning two of the last 12 on the road, including a heavy 5-1 loss to Bolton Wanderers last Tuesday.
They have thrived at the Stevenage FC Stadium, winning seven out their last eight home games, whilst only conceding four goals in those games.
“I think it’s the toughest game away from home you can get in League One.” said Lincoln head coach Michael Skubala. “If you can go there and pick up points against them, then you have earnt it.”
Stevenage currently sit in the final play-off place in sixth, three points clear of recent Vertu Trophy winners Luton Town.
“They have done very well this season, it shows the unity they have,” elaborated Skubala. “They are very well coached, Alex (Revell, Stevenage head coach) has got them going, they are physically really dominant.”
Team News
Lincoln only made two changes between an away win at Reading and last Saturdays match against Leyton Orient. Tom Bayliss replaced an injured Ivan Varfolomeev, and Dom Jeffries dropped out for star man Moylan.
Skubala however shared “good news” on the injury Varfolomeev sustained in the Leyton Orient warm-up.
“It’s no where near as bad as we thought it could be, he’s back into contention for Saturday.”
The Lincoln head coach was a lot more sceptical on the return of Freddie Draper, Joshua Honohan, and Adam Jackson.
“They are on the way back, but we don’t want to take risks and lose somebody for next season. Whether they make one or two of the remaining games will be driven by the medical team.”
Oscar Thorn and James Collins remain side-lined with no update given.

Head-to-head
The last time these two sides faced off was at the LNER Stadium in the league last October, Rob Street scoring in a narrow 1-0 win.
Over the years, this fixture has produced very few goals. Since 2023, across five games played in League One, only three goals have been scored. Meaning we should expect a cagey affair this Saturday.
Of those five games, Lincoln have won two, drawn two, and lost one. The loss coming back in November 2023.
