Gainsborough Trinity and play-off rivals Warrington Rylands have co-signed a letter to the Northern Premier League opposing a decision made regarding the fixture between FC United of Manchester and Stockton Town.
That came after it was announced that the game had been moved to the Tameside stadium home of FC United’s local rivals Curzon Ashton.
The fixture had previously been postponed six times since it’s original date of November 18, now the league feel as though they can’t risk a further postponement as the end of the season draws closer.
A statement released by Trinity, said: “Gainsborough Trinity FC & Warrington Rylands FC have today co signed a letter to the Northern Premier League to express our serious concerns regarding the recent decision affecting the fixture between FC United of Manchester and Stockton Town FC.

“Both clubs believe it is important to stand up for the principles of fairness, consistency, and sporting integrity, particularly at this critical point in the season.”
However, they aren’t the only sides opposed to the decision as FC United themselves said: “We are disappointed with the decision, particularly given the impact it has both sporting and financially.”
FC United currently sit third in the table with a game in hand and if they were to pick up three points in that one, then they would return to the top of the Northern Premier League.
Stockton on the other hand, currently sit in sixth place just three points behind Trinity and would leapfrog the Holy Blues if they were to find victory over FC United.
They believe that the change of location eliminates FC United’s home advantage and therefore helps the side just three points behind them.

However, Chairman of the Northern Premier League, Mark Harris stood by his decision when he received an email from a fan who described the decision as “diabolical,” before he accused the board of “incompetence” and that they “lacked governance.”
Harris’ response then read, “Thank you for your lovely email, now go f*** yourself.”
The league confirmed yesterday that it’s chair is under investigation for the email and an emergency meeting was convened for this morning, where Harris was relieved of his duties
