Lincoln City capped off their centurion season at home in style as they found a thrilling 4-3 victory over mid-table side Wycombe Wanderers.

The Imps stormed into a three goal lead with an opener from Jack Moylan before a brace from Reeco Hackett either side of the break.

However, the visitors did manage to keep things interesting when Josh Scowen and Declan Skura pulled goals back before Tendayi Darikwa put the game but there was still time for Cauley Woodrow to find a third for the Chairboys.

Michael Skubala made two changes from the side that sealed the League One title against Doncaster Rovers last time out.

They came as Deji Elerewe made his first start in place of Tom Hamer while Reeco Hackett regained his place on the wing as Rob Street led the line as Ryan Oné dropped out.

Performance of Champions

It was a slow start to the game as both sides settled into it however the best chance came 15 minutes in, when Reeco Hackett’s left footed effort deflected over the crossbar.

The best chance for the visitors, then fell two minutes later, as the ball fell kindly on the penalty spot as Fred Onyedinma’s attempted bicycle kick seemed to take the ball away from a tap in for Bradley Fink.

City responded quickly though as two chances fell the way of Hackett in quick succession, the first of which was narrowly headed over before his second left footed effort was well held by Will Norris.

Although it was a moment of magic from Moylan that eventually broke the deadlock as he quickly exchanged passes with House down the left before he drove into the penalty area and drilled the ball into the roof of the net.

The lead was then quickly doubled within three minutes as Hackett won a penalty when Daniel Harvie slid in and handled the ball before the winger slotted the spot kick into the bottom right corner.

However, the hosts did still look to threaten in the closing five minutes of the half as Ryley Towler slid in to prevent Fink from volleying home before Luke Harris firved over from distance just a minute later.

However, that was where a dominant half from the home side came to a close as a second Ivan Varfolomeev shot from distance failed to threaten.

A centurion fight

Hackett looked to have then put the game to bed with the first chance of the second half as the ball fell to him 20-yards from goal and he drilled it into the far bottom right corner.

Although the visitors quickly pulled one back in bizarre fashion as a weak cross deflected onto the post and bounced out to Josh Scowen who turned the ball into the empty net.

George Wickens finally got involved in the action after a brief lull, when he was forced to tip a low powerful effort from Junior Quitirna effort wide of his left post.

Although there was nothing he could do when the Chairboys got another back as Declan Skura flicked a corner from the left into the side netting at the far post.

However, a late scare was avoided when Tendayi Darikwa beat his highest scoring season after he latched onto a long ball over the top and drilled the ball into the bottom left corner completely unmarked.

However, the game wasn’t done there as Cauley Woodrow managed to pull a goal back once again in what would be the last action of the game.

Next up, the the Imps close out their centurion season with a trip to Port Vale next weekend.
