Lincoln United saw out a goalless draw in their final home match of the season to retain their unbeaten record in a Northern Premier League East Division league match.
United aimed to get points on the boards after suffering a heavy 5-0 last week away at Dunston, facing against a North Ferriby side who hadn’t lost in their last six league matches.
Dominant but no reward
And Lincoln started strongly, fashioning a clear-cut chance in the opening two minutes. Lincoln’s Kane Hutchinson-Wilkes whipped in a cross from the left wing, that was controlled by Jack Varley just at the edge of the six yard box before setting himself for a shot, which unfortunately sailed over the bar.
This early chance transformed into early dominance for the Whites, pegging back North Ferriby and giving them limited opportunity to leave their own half.
Lincoln tried to make their dominance count, setting up many opportunities to take the lead before half time. The most notable being a glancing header from United’s captain Jack Dando, who’s headed chance narrowly went wide of the left post from a corner.
The home sides dominance didn’t mean North Ferriby didn’t have opportunities. After a scramble in the Lincoln box to clear the ball, the ball broke for Ferriby attacker Rio Molyneaux in the box, allowing the player time to control the ball and take a shot. United ‘keeper Heath Richardson scrambled to the ground to make an impressive save, leading the game to half time.

Deadlock remained unbroken
Both sides really struggled to control the game in the second half, leading to a very end to end game of football, with both teams snatching at limited chances throughout the half.
One opportunity for Lincoln came in the 68th minute where a beautiful chipped pass landed at the feet of forward Connor Brown, who had an opportunity to run at goal. Unfortunately a heavy touch shortened the angle for a shot, and the resulting attempt flew over the goal.
The best move of the whole game was generated by Ferriby’s Ben Hatton in the 74th minute, the Rotherham United loanee produced some terrific pace to beat Lincoln’s defence down the left wing. Hatton squared it to substitute Mason Johnson, who had space and time to pick his spot in the goal. The shot however was not on target, and the ball went over for a goal kick.
With a scrappy final few minutes, the game ended 0-0. Giving Lincoln United another valuable point and sealing an impressive unbeaten run at home for 2026 until next season.
United will conclude their season against Ashington AFC away from home next Saturday, it will be a tough match as Ashington have not lost at home in six matches, their last defeat at Woodhorn Lane coming last February against Emley AFC.
