Lincoln City confirmed that they were promoted to the Championship yesterday with a 2-1 win over play-off chasers Reading.
The goals came as Ryan Oné put the side in the driving seat just five minutes in, before Jack Moylan responded in second half injury time just two minutes after a late scare from a spectacular Lewis Wing free-kick.
It was a win that put Lincoln City in the second tier of English football for the first time in 65 years and Michael Skubala said: “Unbelievable. I’m just so proud of the players.
“Everything they’ve put in, the fans and the support they put in, its just been an amazing day and to give them them this today has just been unbelievable.”

However, the side now sit just six points away from the SkyBet League One title that Skubala so desperately wants and hasn’t hidden from all season.
Despite that, he said: “”We’re going to have a drink tonight, we’re going to celebrate and make sure that we enjoy this moment because you have to take the moments in football.
“Then we’re going to get ready, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for our next game which is going to be a tough one.”
Despite finding victory on Friday, the head coach still made three changes to the side that beat AFC Wimbledon as Dom Jeffries started at left-wing back.
On how that helped seal promotion, Skubala said: “It’s important that we change shape and adapt, to keep freshening the team up because it’s important tactically that we are ready for any opposition.
“They play with a three-box-three and we wanted to adapt to that.”
