Lincoln City forward Rob Street netted a stoppage time equaliser to secure his side a 2-2 draw at Stevenage – meaning the Imps need just one point from the final three games to become SkyBet League One champions.

It wasn’t an easy task for Michael Skubala’s side as they faced a Stevenage side that have lost just twice at home this season as they fight to remain in the play-off places when the full-time whistle is blown on the final day.

On facing the side currently sixth in the league, Rob Street said: “It’s a tough place to come, they are where they are in the league for a reason.

“They’re a good side, every time you play Stevenage you know its going to be a tough game so we had to be up for the fight today and yeah we’re delighted in the end to come away with a point.”

The late goal scored by the 24-year-old also helped preserve and extend Lincoln’s unbelievable unbeaten run, with their last league loss coming against Wycombe Wanderers back in November.

On maintaining the impressive run, Street said: “Yeah it’s massively important.

“We take real pride in that, to go 26 games unbeaten is a special achievement for this football club and we want to keep that going as long as we can.”

Street entered the pitch as a substitute for Ryan Oné just past the hour mark and had just the one shot at goal between then and the full-time whistle, which ultimately, the Englishman put away to level the game.

When asked about the importance of having such clinical finishing in a tight match, Street said: “I don’t think there was a lot in the game to be honest, it was quite a scrappy match between two teams that are really good at winning first balls, second balls and winning their duels.

“It was always going to be a tight game and yeah it’s just having a calm head in that moment and getting it in the back of the net.”

As previously mentioned, picking up a draw against the Boro on Saturday now means City require just a point against Doncaster Rovers to crown themselves as league champions.

Street said: “I’m always confident in the team, we’re on a really good run and we’ve got ourselves into a really good position with the games to go.

“We just have to keep going now and continue finding a way to win.”
