The route for the highly anticipated Lloyds Tour of Britain men’s cycling race 2026 has been revealed and for the first time ever the event is coming to Lincoln.
Known for being the largest free-to-attend sporting spectacle in the UK, the Tour of Britain Men is part of the UCI ProSeries – making it one of the most prestigious sporting events in the sport of cycling.
And this year’s event will see both of the opening two stages take place in Lincolnshire commencing on Wednesday, September 2, with the opening leg starting and finishing in Lincoln.
Jonathan Day, director of events for British Cycling Ventures, said: “We are delighted to be bringing the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men to these fantastic locations.
“Taking the Tour to Lincoln for the first time, a city synonymous with its love for cycling, will be special for the opening stage of the men’s race.”
The city of Lincoln is a significant location regarding the sport of cycling in the UK, notably hosting the annual Lincoln Grand Prix, which is the country’s longest‑running and biggest single-day road race.
After the conclusion of the opening leg, the second stage will follow; remaining in the county and taking place between Boston and Skegness.
The peloton is then set to move to Hull for stage three, before finishing in Beverley, East Yorkshire. Stage four will then be located in North Yorkshire, starting in Helmsley and finishing in Leyburn.
The final stage will see the race move over the border into Scotland, with a start and finish line situated in the market town of Earlston for the first time in the event’s history.
