Dave Frecklington complimented the ‘excellent’ performance of his Lincoln United side as they battled for 1-1 draw against second in the league Morpeth Town.
Both of the two goals scored in the match came in quick succession, with teenager Mylo Baker emphatically netting the first to give United the advantage early into the second half.
The visitors equalised almost instantly as the Whites failed to clear a corner which allowed Max Monaghen to latch onto a loose ball in the six yard box and make it 1-1, with that goal acting as the last of the game.
It was a point that meant United climbed to fourth place in the Northern Premier League East Division, and on his sides display, Dave Frecklington said: “I thought we were excellent today, it was everything we wanted in a home performance.
“I’m disappointed we didn’t get the three points but if you can’t win the game you don’t lose it. They’re a good team, second in the league for a reason, but I thought we more than dominated the game in terms of wanting to win it.”

Club captain Elliot Dye had picked up an injury in United’s previous fixture – a 2-2 draw at Garforth Town on Tuesday night – and was sidelined for yesterday’s game.
On how the midfield managed in his absence, Frecklington said: “I thought they did brilliantly, Haydn Havard came in and did really well, he’s aggressive and on the front foot and I thought he complimented Alan Power really well; as did the two wide boys Dan (Emmanuel) and Mylo (Baker), they showed why they’re going to be good players.
“Kane (Hutchinson-Wilkes) and Max (Baker) played in different positions today at left-back and centre-half and did really well so it’s a big point, looking back I’m disappointed with how we conceded because we scored right before that but we have to learn and move on.”
Next up for the Whites is a trip to 11th place Beverley Town on Tuesday, September 29 as they look to extend their unbeaten run to four games and maintain their current position of fourth in the league.
When asked if his side’s fine form can continue, Frecklington said: “We hope so, if we can get a win Tuesday that makes the last two draws really good draws.
“But they’re doing really well at the minute Beverley so it’ll be a tough game, like they all are away from home in this league, but it’s a great start from us so hopefully we can kick on.”
