Tom Shaw was proud of his side yesterday despite their five game unbeaten run coming to an end following a 2-1 defeat to Swansea City.
That came following a largely dominant display, in which Reeco Hackett’s first half penalty was cancelled out by a quickfire second half double from Moussa Yeo and Stephen Eustaquio.
The Swans completed that comeback within five minutes of the restart and City head coach Tom Shaw spoke on that period and said: “We got a warning just before half time.
“We got a warning about how good they are, the level of player, how good they are and how nippy they are and how bright they are around our box.
“It just got away from us, there’s going to be moments like that season because of who we’re playing against, the quality of the opposition.
“First goal, we can definitely do better as a group, second goal was a little bit unfortunate with the deflection.
“It’s five or six minutes that we’ll review and reflect, learn from, but for the majority of the game, I thought we looked a really good football team.”

The side managed to show that quality throughout a first half in which they were dominant despite having just 24 per cent possession.
Shaw spoke on how the side are effective despite such little possession when he said: “We’ve got our way of working.
“We want to score fast, because we feel like we can score at any moment, people that watched us over the last 18 months will know that we can get in on one pass.
“It’s not at the top of our priority list to keep the ball, there’s been a couple of games this year where we’ve changed strategy to have a bit more of the ball.
“The thing we want to reflect on is that our counter attack hasn’t quite clicked yet, so when we give up the ball a little bit we want to carry make sure, we carry a threat.
“The scoreline quite often seems to take it that way, we seem to have been 1-0 up for the last 12 months so you end up in a mid-block looking to spring.
“But we just make sure we’re effective with the amount of possession we have.”
The head coaches now have a three weeks before they travel to face Sheffield United to work on that counter attack due to the upcoming international break.
During that time the Imps have three players representing their nations in Chieo Ogbene, Andrei Coubiș and Ivan Varfolomeev and Shaw said: “So please for the lads to get their recognition.
“We want them to comeback healthy and it’s amazing for Lincoln City to have that many international call-ups.”
