Following Tuesday night’s 1-0 defeat at Darlington in the Johnstone Paint Trophy 1st round, Lincoln City Manager Peter Jackson and Assistant Manager Iffy Onoura have left the club.
A club statement published on the Lincoln City official website said
“The Lincoln City board of directors have agreed to part company with Manager Peter Jackson and Assistant Manager Iffy Onuora with immediate effect.
Following the frustration of last season’s poor home form which led to a drop in attendances, the Board have been dissapointment with the poor start to the campaign and the early exit from two cup competitions.
It is with regret that the Board have made this decision as Peter and Iffy have worked hard to raise the profile of the Club in many ways, however the bottom line is the need for results.
First Team Coach Simon Clark, assisted by Head of Youth Tom Spall, will be put in temporary charge while a search for a new manager will take place.”
Jackson was appointed Imps boss in October 2007 taking over from John Schofield. Jackson guided the Imps from the bottom of League Two to a respectable mid table finish, whilst he took time off to undergo treatment for throat cancer. A poor home record picking up just 6 wins last season and inconsistent form has led to Jacksons departure.
