Lincoln City are set to sign Norwich City youth defender David Stephens on loan for the remainder of the campaign to bolster their threadbare squad.
18-year-old Stephens could go straight into Chris Sutton’s side for tomorrow’s League Two clash against Torquay if paperwork, submitted this morning, is approved in time.
The centre-back signed his first professional contract with the Canaries this season and made his first team debut for the League One side in a 1-0 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win over Gillingham in October.
The Imps have been hit by defensive injuries in recent weeks with Adam Watts suffering a leg-break against Grimsby last month, whilst Nathan Baker and Ian Pearce have also been sidelined. Danny Hone and Moses Swaibu are at present the only senior central defenders in the squad.
