Getting the balance right between looking smart but showing your creativity when attending job interviews can be difficult, especially on a budget.

To launch Enterprise and Employability week, Enterprise@Lincoln are holding fashion event “Dress for Success”, showing students how to dress to make the right impression on potential employers, on a student budget.

Event organiser Alex Colman explains the idea behind the event: “I thought it would be a nice idea to launch enterprise and employability week with an entertaining evening. The night will be a good night out with food and drink provided and a celebrity guest attending.

“How students dress is important as even if they have a good CV, they need to look the part at their interview,” he says.

Celebrity TV stylist Mark Heyes will be the compare for the evening. Heyes, the stylist for daytime television show Daybreak, will be demonstrating the right and wrong way to dress for interviews in your chosen career.

“Dress for Success” will take place on Monday, November 15th, at the LPAC. The university’s fashion department will be creating the outfits and the choreography for the night, and students at Lincoln will be doing the models’ hair and make-up.

Sponsors for the night include Primark, New Look, and ASDA Living, ensuring you don’t have to spend a lot to make a big impact.

Becki Forbes, the manager of New Look, said she thought it would be nice to be a sponsor of the event, as a lot of their customers are students.

Forbes also said that the event was a great idea to teach young people how to move away from their casual dress sense and show them they can still be stylish in work wear.

Tickets for “Dress for Success” are priced at £3, which includes sparkling wine on arrival, a buffet and a free gift bag. Tickets are on sale now at the Engine Shed box office.
