Ashley Grimes poked in an 86th minute equaliser as Lincoln City came back from two goals down to secure a point in a gritty fixture away at Aldershot Town.
The Shots scored either side of half time to give themselves breathing space – their opener a first half penalty converted by Anthony Charles after Josh O’Keefe handled in the box, and the second a powerful effort from ex-Imps forward Alex Rodman just minutes after the restart.
O’Keefe redeemed himself, though, in the 65th minute, when he nodded in Jamie Clapham’s cross to set up a nervy final few minutes for the home side.
Then, with four minutes of normal time left on the clock, on-loan Millwall striker Grimes netted his 12th goal of the season, and his fourth in three games, to make sure the Imps travelled back to Lincoln with something to show for their efforts.
Steve Tilson was forced to make a change to his starting 11, with Paul Green coming in for the injured Julian Kelly. The full back, who has made eight appearances for the Imps since joining on loan last month, is unlikely to feature again for Tilson’s side after his loan deal expired, unless the contract is extended.
Next up for the Imps is a tricky home fixture against League Two leaders Chesterfield on Saturday, 19th February. The Spireites are currently top by five points with a game in hand over Shrewsbury and Rotherham, who sit 2nd and 3rd respectively.
