Watch Chris Atkins, director of the documentary “Starsuckers”, as he discusses false news and how to fool the media as part of the Journalists speak out on Journalism series at the University of Lincoln.
As part of Atkin’s film “Starsuckers”, the team phoned newspapers to see if they would pay for and publish stories about celebrities that they made up – and performed undercover stings to see if newspapers would knowingly break the law and industry codes of practice for stories with low public interest.
Atkins also discussed the recent urban fox hunting story that he was responsible for hoaxing, explaining how and why he put the story together.
