Moda fans were treated to a night to remember when Chase and Status hit the stage at Tokyo Lincoln on Friday, September 30th.
Now one of Lincoln’s most recognised club nights, Moda has made a huge name for itself since its opening night in 2008. Hosting world-renowned acts such as Fatboy Slim and Sub Focus, it is a major event in the student calendar.
Creators of Moda and Radio 1 DJ’s Jaymo and Andy George, returned to their roots again in Lincoln – the city which helped kick off their careers. However this time bringing top DJs Chase and Status with them.
Moda has already built a huge reputation for itself by touring the UK, bringing a mix of huge acts and great music to cities and universities. Despite recently moving venues, from Lincoln’s Engine Shed to the newly opened Tokyo night club, Moda certainly lived up to its reputation.
Friday night’s event quickly sold out as word spread, with queues for tickets on the door. With the line-up also including DJ sets from Bexentric, Tom Staar, and Jaymo and Andy George themselves, it was a night not to be missed. Starting with a mix of eclectic dance, house and electro music, it didn’t take much to get the crowd moving.
By the time the last warm up act were on, even the bouncers were nodding along. Songs from Daft Punk and re-mixes of modern hits such as Marilyn Manson and Rihanna were popular and created a great atmosphere.
Chase and Status hit the stage late into the night, with huge bass lines and catchy beats that had the floor shaking and everybody dancing. Starting with classics such as “Eastern Jam” and “End Credits” and onto more recent hits such as “Hypest Hype” and “Time”, the crowd knew the words to every song. Perhaps this was a clear sign not just of their skill as DJ’s but also of the duo’s chart-topping success.
With a mix of their own old and recent hits, chart toppers, added bass lines and the duo’s own rapper Rage to hype the crowd, it was definitely a night to be remembered.
As Moda’s fifth birthday now approaches, tickets expect to sell fast. Judging by the long list of huge acts they have brought to Lincoln in the past, it seems as though there is no stopping the Moda boys. The only question left is; who will they bring to Lincoln next?
Moda’s fifth birthday will be held at Tokyo on Friday, 28th October and will feature Jack Beats, 2 Bears, Alex Metric, Jaymo & Andy George, Tom Staar, Urchins and Bxentric. Tickets are on sale now.
