Lincoln City continued their pre-season schedule with a short trip to play semi-professional club, Newark Town on Tuesday, July 24th.

The game was played at Collingham FC’s ground in Nottinghamshire while, at the same time, Lincoln’s youth team played Skegness FC further afield.

The scoring was opened early on by City as Grahame Hutchinson headed in from a good
cross.

However, some poor defending from a set piece meant that Newark Town were able to
score an easy tap-in at the far post to make it 1-1.

The game seemed to turn in The Imps’ favour after the goal as Alan Power won the ball strongly in midfield, before playing in Adam Smith who cannoned a shot into the back of the net to make it 2-1 to Lincoln City.

Another cross from John Nutter unlocked the Newark Town defence, allowing Rob Duffy to score a header, taking the score to 3-1 to the visitors.

Later in the second half, one of the floodlights exploded leaving the few travelling fans baffled.

The game finished on a high note for the Imps as a cross was punched into his own
net by the Newark goalkeeper, which saw the game finish 4-1 to Lincoln City.
