Lincoln’s High Street was awash with savvy students on Wednesday evening, as hundreds took advantage of Lincoln’s annual student shopping night.
Whilst many of Lincoln’s biggest retailers, including Topman, River Island and Dorothy Perkins, celebrated their own student night between 6.00pm and 9.00pm, it was the recently revamped Waterside Shopping Centre which drew the biggest crowds.
The event was a lively success with a great atmosphere as a result of the 20% discount offered by most retailers. An exciting live DJ set, courtesy of Moka, secured the night as a roaring student success.
Myfanwy and Hannah, sales assistants at Topshop, were pleased with the night’s turnout:
“I was quite surprised by the amount of people that came in, I think it’s going quite well so far,” Myfanwy said.
“A lot of girls are going for going-out dresses and a lot of play suits – they’re thinking about this weekend and going into town.”
Hannah added: “I actually think boy’s trends are really coming up, men are taking more of a stance on how they want to dress so it’s really interesting to watch.”
Representatives from Moka, Propaganda and Lola Lo’s also garnered a lot of interest over the night, as well as the wonderfully successful Glitter Lips stall in Topshop that sampled products for free to eager students.
Most students spoke highly of the evening and their newly-purchased items.
Tasha said: “I loved it. We’ve been to Topshop because 20% off Topshop is amazing.
“We came last year and we’ll definitely be back next year. We quite like shopping, going crazy and buying loads of stuff.”
If you missed Wednesday’s event you may still be in with the chance to bag a bargain. A few of the retailers, including Topshop/Topman, Newlook and H&M (in conjunction with the Unidays app) are still offering 20% student discount (student card required) off purchases for a limited time only.
