Farman, 25, who joined the club initially on loan from Gateshead in 2011, has signed a two-year contract extension which will tie down the keeper until the summer of 2017.

“There was only one thought, I wanted to sign here. I spoke to a couple people that worked at the club and I told them that and I got a deal on the table and it was sorted in 24 hours.”

Farman didn’t start the season as the Imps’ number one, as he fell behind Birmingham City loanee Nick Andy Townsend, but was brought into the side in the FA Cup as Townsend’s parent club wouldn’t allow him to play.

Farman has retained his place ever since, going on to make 20 appearances this season and with his long-term future settled, the keeper is looking forward to enjoying the rest of the season:

“We just have to enjoy the rest of the season and give it a real go, like we have in recent games,” he said.
