Lincoln City captain Alan Power is pleased to be back on the pitch and in amongst the goals following his return from injury.
The Irishman found the net for the second time in two games in the 1-1 draw with Altrincham on Tuesday night.
He said: “At the minute I’m just delighted to be back playing and finding a bit of form to be honest. I’m still excited to be out on the pitch after being out for a couple of weeks.”
Power latched onto a flick on from target man Matt Rhead to score that goal and the pair have been forming an effective partnership ever since Power has switched to a more advanced role.
“I knew I was always capable of scoring goals and I’m good at making runs and getting into the right position at the right time and it’s paid off in the last two games.”
“I knew what he (Rhead) was about, I knew what he was capable of doing and he’s been a battering ram for us this year.”
“I’ve been watching games as well when I’ve been on the bench and I know what he’s doing, I’m understanding where he’s putting the ball, where he’s flicking it on and where he’s holding it up so it was quite easy to come in and get that understanding with him.”
The Imps had 15 shots on target against Altrincham and have had a total of 74 efforts in the last five games, and Power said that it’s only a matter of time before the goals start to flow more regularly.
“The stats have shown that in the last couple of days the amount of opportunities we’re creating and shots on target so we’re definitely getting the opportunities, it’s just about putting them away now and I think some team is going to be on the end of a battering by us.”
