Lincoln City forward Alex Simmons is enjoying the challenge of trying to hold down a First Team place at Sincil Bank this season.
The youngster broke in the Imps First Team squad this year after impressing during his loan spells at Grantham and Boston.
He said: “The main thing is to be playing and I’m getting that opportunity this year so I’m really enjoying it.”
The 19 year-old has scored twice for Chris Moyses side this season in ten appearances.
Simmons accepts that his game is still developing and he can learn from the more experienced players around him: “You do take advice off everyone in games, after games, during training – you listen to what everyone has to say and everyone’s willing to help each other.”
The Imps travel to Guiseley this evening, off the back of their 2-0 win against Torquay and unbeaten run of three games.
Guiseley are only one place below Lincoln in the National League table despite being promoted last season.
Simmons talked up his sides chances of winning the game: “We’ll be looking to go there and get a result and keep the wins coming because we’re nearly where we want to be.”
“We have to go into every game with the right mind-set to make sure we play at our best because every team is in the division for a reason.”
The game is being shown live on BT Sport this evening but Simmons believes that won’t affect the Imps players as they look for another three points.
“No, you forget about it. As soon as you get out on the pitch you don’t think about much else. You’ve got to concentrate.”
