If there’s one thing you need to invest in right now then it’s a pair of ankle boots. Black or tan they’re the one buy that you won’t regret this season.

Vagabond shoesThe perfect thing about this trend is that not only do they look good but also they’re practical. There’s usually some draw back with fashion and that’s nearly always the practicality aspect.  Take faux fur for example, yes it’s warm but it’s completely impractical in the rain. The phrase-drowned rat has never been more accurate after getting soaked whilst wearing it!

The only rule with this shoe trend is the chunkier the better. The hype over thick-soled shoes doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Everywhere from designer brands to your local high street stores have something that will tap right into this trend.

For me personally, nothing can beat Vagabond onVagabond’s Chelsea Boots. They’re made out of real leather, which makes them pricier than your average pair, but you know you’re getting your money’s worth. Plus from my own experience Vagabond shoes make for some of the comfiest items of footwear ever. Otherwise, Topshop have a really nice suede pair of heeled boots in, meaning you can tackle two key trends at the same time!

Ankle boot’s go perfectly with almost any outfit as well. Try combining with an A-line skirt to keep your look updated and in the now. Alternatively style a black pair with a high neck jumper and either staple black skinny jeans or a pair of cord black skinny trousers (Asos) for a slightly edgier ensemble.

Topshop shoesThese shoes also work equally well with mom jeans so, when the weather’s too wet to wear a pair of canvas shoes you can mix the look up by wearing ankle boots. Style with a long line cardigan (Topshop) for a super elongated look.

Due to the chunky heel most of these boots have, they flatter any body type and arguably more importantly will add sass to each and every step!
