VP Welfare and Community, Wade Baverstock, has resigned from his post at the Lincoln Students’ Union.
In a statement published on the SU website, Wade consulted family and friends prior to his resignation: “After seeking advice and support from family, friends and his colleagues in the Students’ Union, Wade has come to the conclusion that he needs time away from his role due to personal reasons.”
In the interim, President Hayley Jayne Wilkinson will be taking over the portfolio of Welfare and Community. Currently the Students’ Union Trustees are considering the best way to move forward.
A spokesperson for the SU said: “With the success of the commercial venues we have, this year been able to allocate more staff resource into the portfolio of VP Welfare and Community who will be able to deliver Wade’s plans.
“Wade has done a lot of work planning his year so, under Hayley’s leadership, the Welfare and Community remit can be delivered by staff in areas of accommodation, liberation and community. As such, we hope that the Union’s output will not be negatively impacted by Wade’s departure.”
