Lincoln City’s season has been full of ups and downs, but as their campaign reaches the business stage, our writers have picked out their stand out player for the Imps so far.
Adam Tomlinson (Sports Editor): Paul Farman. The goalkeeper has impressed again this season and saved the Imps more points than he’s lost, he could easily be playing in the Football League.
Liam Ray (Deputy Sports Editor): Matt Rhead. It has to be Matt Rhead. He’s performing well above expectations and has offered more than just his 19 league goals this season.
Luke Vials: Jack Muldoon. I’m going to nominate midfielder Jack Muldoon for this accolade. Wherever he is selected to play you can always rely on Muldoon to put in a good solid shift, and he could be key if City are to reignite their play-off dreams.
James Williams: Jack Muldoon. He’s been the brightest spark in the Imps side and has added goals to his game as well which is helping take the pressure off Matt Rhead.
Jarrad Johnson: Matt Rhead. Goals win you games and Rhead has scored plenty this season and his all-round play has been impressive as well.
Ollie Collins: Matt Rhead. I would say that Rhead has been the stand out performer for the Imps this year with his 22 goals in all competitions.
Samuel Gilbert: Matt Rhead. Lincoln City would be right down the other end of the table had it not been for his goals this season, he is arguably the best target-man in the league and has shown off his impressive technical ability with some fine finishes.
Elliott Dalton: Matt Rhead. 22 goals this season and it’s still only February. His goals have been crucial to Lincoln’s wins this season and he’s proven that he’s not just a target man up front by scoring some outstanding goals on a regular basis.
Elliot Spurgeon: Matt Rhead. Not only is he the top goal scorer, he regularly assists his team mates. If it wasn’t for Rhead, City wouldn’t be anywhere near where they are now.
Danyal Khan: Bradley Wood. I’d have to go with Bradley Wood. The defender has become a leader in this Imps side, and he’s been impressive at right-back as well as a stop-gap in midfield.
Kieran Hymus: Lee Beevers. I’m going to have to give it to Lee Beevers after managing to secure the highest amount of assists for the Imps this season. Without his efforts Lincoln fans wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the flurry of goals that they have this season.
Nathan Hill: Jack Muldoon. He holds the key to a new “Plan B” for the Imps having formed an effective striking partnership with Matt Rhead recently. He has also brought a lot energy and enthusiasm to the team and epitomises what Lincoln City are all about this season.
Ryan Hall: Matt Rhead. He has averaged well over a goal every other game this season and if he’s able to carry on his rich vain of form, he might just pip Grimsby Town’s Padraig Amond to the top of the goalscoring charts.
