‘The Slug and Lettuce’, which sits at the top of the high street, is hosting a re-launch party this week after a thorough site refurbishment.
The eatery, which is part of the Stonegate group, is closing on Tuesday 23rd until Friday 26th February. During this time, keys will be handed over to the builders and decorators who are due to give venue a “Sparkle”, a term used by the company to describe the site’s revamp.
In the three days of closure, various forms of renovation will take place. Floors and toilets in the building will all be reconditioned and the beer garden will be redecorated and restored to provide additional seating in the upcoming summer months. The restaurant will have newly painted walls, with different wallpaper and new forms of lighting.
The Slug and Lettuce will also be welcoming in the arrival of new food and drink menus to complete the venue’s transformation.
The refurb comes as more bars and restaurants are opening up on Lincoln’s High Street. Manager Sean Keverne said: “We’ve been operating without a refurbishment or any money being spent on us for a while, so in the scheme of things, it’s well overdue and definitely necessary, in order to bring us up to the standard of competition which is popping up around us.
“We’re getting busier all the time, so sometimes it’s very hard to keep things ‘sparkling’.”
To celebrate the makeover, a re-launch party will be hosted on the Friday evening within the newly decorated venue.
The public are invited to come and view the new surroundings with a complimentary glass of Prosecco. A DJ will also be entertaining guests from 5pm onwards, with live entertainment taking place throughout the event.
“I’m really excited about the place being refitted, the staff being re-motivated, and just having a lovely clean workplace. We deserve it,” said Sean.
The re-launch party will take place on Friday 26th February at The Slug and Lettuce from 5pm onwards. Offers such as £12 bottles of Prosecco, and 2 for 1 cocktails will also be available at the event.
