Lincoln United host play-off rivals Basford United in a crucial match at the Sun-Hat Villas Stadium tonight.

The Whites sit in the final play-off spot in the Evo-Stik First Division South while their opponents are one place above in 4th position.

United could close the gap on Basford to five points with a win and would still have two games in hand on them.

The Whites are in good form and are unbeaten in their last five games. However, they will be looking to get back to winning ways after they conceded a 90th minute equaliser to draw 2-2 with Belper Town on Saturday.

After Saturday’s draw, manager Dave Frecklington acknowledged that tonight’s match is now a “massive game”.

“We’ve won four and drawn one of our last five matches so we’re in good form but we need to win the game on Tuesday if we’ve got any intention of catching them (Basford),” he said.

“We’re still right in the (play-off) mix and we need to get our heads up for ready for Tuesday.

“I’ve said to the lads, if you can’t get yourselves up for Tuesday then you shouldn’t be here.”

The Whites will be hoping striker Jack McGovern will be fit after he pulled out of Saturday’s match against Belper during the warm-up with an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, Basford are on a 12 match unbeaten run in the league and haven’t lost a game in 2016.

However, in the reverse fixture between the two sides earlier this season, United came out on top, winning 1-0.
