Lincoln City manager Danny Cowley says his side are looking forward to getting their FA Cup campaign underway tomorrow.

Despite being twenty places higher in the National League than their opponents, Cowley is not feeling complacent.

“We know it’s going to be a really tough game,” he said. “You don’t beat York City 6-1 without having some very good players. We’ll need to be right at the top of our game to be on the right side of the result”.

“In this team we never get carried away, we never get ahead of ourselves, we’ll always give everybody the utmost respect.”

At his press conference ahead of the weekend’s match, Cowley, who has taken Concord Rangers and Braintree Town to the first round proper in the past, expressed his love for the competition.

“It’s the greatest cup competition in the world and it changes people’s lives,” he said.

“The players have had an extra spring in their step – all the focus for us is being in that draw on Monday night”.

Cowley also voiced his desire for replays in the competition to be scrapped, and would prefer to see ties finished on the day.

“I think it’d be great for the fans and for everybody. Particularly at the higher level when you’re asking the premiership players to play in European Championships and World Cups in the summer.”

“If we could reduce the amount of games that we play then we’d do better in those competitions. So I definitely think that the FA could help the national team in that respect.”
