Here it is then, my first ever column, and my specialist subject is BUCS!
It is still very early in the season but we’ve had a really exciting start right across the board, and I am already hopeful of reaching our target of finishing in the top 60 overall this year.
I don’t have enough space to list all the wins that we have had but some highlights so far have been; Volleyball Men’s and Women’s winning start to the season, Badminton are flying and the Women’s first team are top of their league, Rugby League beating Notts Trent on the opening day, Men’s Lacrosse beating Nottingham this week and Netball and Table Tennis showing their class by starting strongly.
I hope to use this column to provide you with an update on the performances from the week just gone, and update everyone on the big wins. This week we had two stand out ‘big wins’. Firstly, on the pitch Women’s Rugby beating Northampton 62-5, and secondly, Women’s football raising nearly £900 on Tuesday evening for Cancer Research UK.
This was a fantastic achievement and I would personally like to thank all the other clubs and societies that helped out at the event – we as a Union are working really hard on the community element of our strategy and it makes me proud to see everyone coming together to help out such a good cause.
So congratulations to both, and congratulations to all our winners so far! Keep pushing forward and keep doing yourselves and the University proud. If you want more information on when and where games are taking place then check out the We Are Lincoln Facebook page or look for the posters around campus on a Monday morning.
