The Swan, Lincoln SU’s student pub, is to reopen on September 4 – after closing for refurbishment at the end of June.

The redesign, which will be unveiled at a grand opening celebration for special guests on September 1, comes just under a year after the SU’s Tower Bar was also given a revamp.

The new-look venue boasts a heated, undercover terrace with new seating and outdoor lighting, where students can relax comfortably with friends whilst enjoying the views of the Brayford Pool.

Meanwhile, the pub’s interior now includes an extended upstairs dining area, along with new toilets and seating throughout.

A new menu will also be revealed at the grand opening, in addition to a new cocktail menu and an even greater selection of beers.

SU President, Kudzai Muzangaza, said: The Swan has always been an important student venue, a traditional pub with a homely feel, the refurbishment built upon those values, and has created greater space, a revitalised interior and a fantastic social space for our students.

The news comes after The Swan was awarded gold status by the Best Bar None scheme earlier this year. Supported by the Home Office, the national awards promote ‘responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises’.

James Brooks CEO said: “In the space of just three years The Swan has flourished, and we will once again be attending the Great British Pub Awards on 7 September in the category of Best Student Pub.

“The recent refurbishment allows us to develop The Swan’s offering even further. I am incredibly pleased with how far the venue has come and this is testament to the hard work and efforts of everyone involved.
