Harry Potter actress and director Bonnie Wright, known for playing Ginny Weasley in the film franchise, will premiere her latest short film in Lincoln today.
Medusa’s Ankles, directed by Wright, will be shown inside the Sincil Salon hairdressers from Thursday to Saturday this week.
Starring Kerry Fox and Jason Isaacs, the film is an adaptation of a short story by AS Byatt, and centres around women in middle age.
“In Medusa’s Ankles, Susannah [Kerry Fox] is already battling with the reality of ageing and fading beauty but it is the drastic remodelling of the salon that gives her space to realise this and react so viscerally.
“AS Byatt’s beautifully rich descriptions of the environment enabled my creative team a foundation to build upon and interpret.
“In this film adaptation I wanted to heighten and obscure the sense of reality, exaggerating the colours and textures as though it was Susannah’s memory of the space,” said Wright.
The premiere is the latest event from the Mansions of the Future project, which is a new cultural programme aimed at bringing “celebrated national and international artists to Lincoln”.
Tickets are free and can be booked online via Eventbrite, with more information about the premiere being available on Mansions of the Future’s website.
